Karim Vionnet Wine
We are so excited to reintroduce the wines of Karim Vionnet to Australia!
Born in Lyon to Algerian heritage, Karim was adopted by a family in Morgon, eventually working for ten years as a vineyard-hand and winemaker for Beaujolais legends such as Jean Foillard, Marcel Lapierre and Guy Breton where he would be assistant winemaker for 8 years.
He has carved his own pathway after years of considered apprenticing and now produces energetic, terroir-driven and immensely drinkable wines from across Beaujolais under his own label. Karim organically farms 5 Ha over the crus of Fleurie, Chenas and Chiroubles as well as three vineyards designated to Beaujolais-Villages. One of these vineyards, once owned by Beaujolais godfather Jules Chauvet, is located in La-Chapelle-de-Guinchay and creates the incredible single vineyard wine "De Beur dans les Pinards".
Winemaking is very simple and consistent across all wines. Full carbonic fermentation is implemented in concrete and fibreglass tanks. The Fleurie and Chiroubles cuvees see oak aging, whilst everything else is held under C02 in tank until bottling to reduce the need for So2 at bottling.
We are in love with these energetic and vivacious wines, and we hope you fall in love with them too!
