Founded in 2019 by four young Romans, ICARO is a project dedicated to reimagining the overlooked wines of Castelli Romani. Their vineyard sits above the volcanic crater lake Nemi in Genzano, just southeast of Rome—an area steeped in history and long prized as an escape from the summer heat.

Farmed organically and by hand, the site is surrounded by forest and rich in volcanic soils, with homeopathic treatments used to encourage biodiversity and native yeast activity.

At the heart of the project is Nero Buono—a local variety often undervalued, but here handled with care and precision.

The result is a range of wines that are bright, energetic and full of character—breathing new life into a region long overdue for a rethink.
