La Mesma is the family estate of sisters Paola, Francesca and Anna Rosina, best known for their beautifully expressive Gavi wines. Farming organically in southern Piedmont, the sisters have also embraced Timorasso, an ancient local variety from the hills around Tortona. Their approach celebrates the individuality of Piedmont's native grapes, producing wines with freshness, texture and a wonderful sense of place.

Derthona is 100% Timorasso, a variety prized for its depth, structure and ability to age. Ripe yellow peach, preserved lemon and apricot are joined by chamomile, wild herbs and a gentle honeyed character. There's lovely richness and texture on the palate, balanced by vibrant acidity and a distinctive mineral, almost salty edge. With a few years of bottle age, the wine is beginning to show additional savoury complexity, finishing long, layered and beautifully fresh.
