2021 Auguste Clape Cornas

Auguste Clape is one of the defining names of Cornas, with the family farming old Syrah vines across some of the appellation’s steepest granite slopes. Today Pierre-Marie and Olivier Clape continue the domaine’s resolutely traditional approach, producing deeply savoury, long-lived Syrah that remains a benchmark for the Northern Rhône.

The 2021 Cornas comes from the domaine’s oldest vines, bringing together parcels from several of its finest sites. Blackberry and dark cherry are layered with violets, black olive, cracked pepper and smoked herbs. Fine, granitic tannins and bright acidity give the wine remarkable structure and freshness, finishing long, mineral and savoury.
