2016 Villa Job 'Risic' Blanc
Place: Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy
Variety: Pinot Grigio, Malvasia
Farming: Organic
Located in Friuli Pozzuolo, Villa job is the estate of vinous power couple Alessandro Job and Lavinia Monrreale. The estate is 6.5 Ha, with soils comprising clay, sandstone and marl. The vines on average are 20 years old and farmed organically. We have been blown away by the freshness and vitality of these wines, kicking ourselves for not discovering them sooner!
This wine is inspired by Alessandro and Lavinia’s travels through Marsala as well as the Jura and Loire regions of France, where they fell in love with the oxidative sides of the region’s wines. They believe that this is where ‘elegance’ in wine comes from.
Deeply coloured, it has sherry-like character of roasted nuts, sea spray and almond meal. Very complex and designed to sit alongside dishes that like oxidation. Coq-a-vin Juane sans the Vin Juane would be a great road to travel.
