2021 Eremo di S.Iconio 'Palinuro' Aglianico
Place: Campania, Italy
Variety: Aglianico
Farming: Biodynamic
Fabio Labruna, a Milan-based sommelier, began farming a small number of hectares in Palinuro on the Campanian coast, becoming the area’s first Demeter-certified biodynamic grower. Working primarily with Aglianico, his focus is on capturing freshness and drinkability within this traditionally powerful variety.
‘Palinuro’ is Aglianico reimagined—sun-kissed yet sea-sprayed, offering a brighter, more lifted expression. Fermented in stainless steel and aged for nine months in a mix of steel and old wood, it’s bottled with minimal sulphur. Dark fruit leads—blackberry, plum and black cherry—layered with dried herbs, tobacco and earthy spice. The palate is structured but fresh, with fine tannins and a mineral edge. Savoury, vibrant and composed—Aglianico with both power and lift.
