Piedmont
Sitting at the foot of the Alps in northwest Italy, Piedmont is one of the world’s great wine regions, home to rolling hills, historic vineyards and an extraordinary collection of indigenous varieties.
Nebbiolo is its most celebrated grape, reaching its greatest expression in Barolo and Barbaresco, while Barbera, Dolcetto, Arneis and a host of lesser-known local varieties reveal the remarkable diversity of the region. From the structured, age-worthy wines of the Langhe to the vibrant wines of Roero, Monferrato and northern Piedmont, the region combines deep tradition with an increasingly energetic new generation of growers. Producers such as Cascina delle Rose, Castrum Roche and Sette sit alongside some of the region’s great historic names, championing distinctive vineyards and wines with a clear sense of place.
