Ossa is one of the exciting new voices of Tasmania’s East Coast, based around the Roberts family’s Belbrook vineyard near Swansea. With acclaimed winemaker Liam McElhinney at the helm, the focus is firmly on cool-climate wines of precision and character, balancing the natural intensity of Tasmanian fruit with freshness, savoury detail and restraint.

Their Syrah is perfumed, elegant and beautifully composed. Blackberry, blueberry and dark plum are layered with violet, white pepper, olive and exotic spice, with subtle whole-bunch character adding further savoury complexity. Fine-grained tannins and bright acidity keep the palate energetic and precise, carrying the wine through a long, spicy finish. Concentrated without feeling heavy, it’s a compelling expression of cool-climate Tasmanian Syrah.
