Muraje are based in the mountainous region of Carema (Piemonte) which borders Aosta. The vines are grown on pergolas known as Topia in the local dialect which are erected on terraces around the hillsides of Carema. The pergolas are held by pillars having the shape of a truncated cone made of stone and lime. Carema is true alpine viticulture and perhaps the most unique and hauntingly beautiful expression of Nebbiolo to be found anywhere in northern Italy. The local clone of Nebbiolo in Carema is known as picotener or picotendro and is a particularly elegant and fragrant expression of Nebbiolo.

100% Picotener Clone Nebbiolo. The vineyards are cultivated between 300 and 600 mt above sea level, on centuries old terraces supported by dry stone walls on rocky amphitheater of Carema town in province of Turin (Piedmont, north-west of Italy). This is a fine boned, red fruited & super pure expression of nebbiolo. A hauntingly beautiful release.
