The wines of Jura captivate us.

Wedged between Burgundy to the West and Switzerland to the East, Jura is famous for two things: delicious wines and Comte cheese. The soil is comprised of different types of marl (Blue, grey, red, black) on limestone strata dating back to the Jurassic Era (150 million years ago).

The white wine here, made from Chardonnay and Savagnin is made in two styles:

Ouille (topped up) examples are pure, racy and fine. 

Non-Ouille (not topped) examples are nutty, oxidative and deep, showcasing what happens when a barrel is not topped and a little oxygen can sneak in. The pinnacle of this is example is 'Vin Juane'. 

The red wines are made from Pinot Noir, Poulsard and Trousseau and are light, refreshing and playful and when made by the right hands, breathtakingly astonishing.
