Jean-François Ganevat is one of the defining names of modern Jura, returning to his family domaine in Rotalier in 1998 after nearly a decade working in Burgundy. The family has farmed the land for generations, and today Ganevat works a remarkable patchwork of tiny vineyards planted across the varied marl and limestone soils of the southern Jura. Farming biodynamically and preserving many of the region’s rare indigenous varieties, he works with extremely low yields and a meticulous, low-intervention approach in the cellar. His wines are renowned for their purity, energy and individuality, capturing both the character of each tiny parcel and the distinctive personality of the Jura.
