Born to Algerian parents, Karim was adopted as a child by the Vionnets in Morgon. He has worked with the region’s greats—Lapierre, Breton, Foillard—as a vineyard- and cellar-hand, as well as assistant winemaker. He now farms small farms in Chiroubles, Chenas and Fleurie.
His Chiroubles comes from 40-60-year-old vines and is carbonic macerated in concrete and raised in old oak for nine months, showing the enticingly purple-fruited and earthy characters of the cru wrapped in a blanket fine, moreish tannins.
