A few things herald spring in: cherry blossoms, new season wattle, seeing more reptiles around and the mirthful whistle of songbirds. But for us at DITC, shrouded in the shade of our eternal warehouse, we know spring has sprung when BK's new release Pet Nats and other sunshine-oriented wines roll through the door—and what a release it is this year!
Two Pet Nats, one born of Chardonnay and the other of Pinot Noir, are looking particularly precise and fruit pure.
A Pinot Noir and Chardonnay named and inspired by the winemaking technique of carbonic maceration and, most deliciously, a saignee rose that has has had the staff accounts swelling.
For this rose, Tempier has been sheparded to one side for inspiration, with l'Anglore instead providing the reference point. Think deep coloured, Tavel style rose that will suit those wanting a weightier rose or a light bright red.
We are digging deep in the cellar every day and whilst we can't see the wattle from our dark cave, we can certainly smell and taste spring through this incredible release from Basket Range superstars Brendan and Kirsty Keys.
