S.C. Pannell is the project of Stephen and Fiona Pannell, with Stephen’s thoughtful approach to Mediterranean varieties helping reshape the modern face of McLaren Vale. Grenache sits firmly at the heart of the estate, with a focus on individual vineyards and wines that balance perfume and generosity with freshness, structure and a clear sense of place.

Old McDonald comes from old-vine Grenache in Blewitt Springs, a vineyard Stephen has worked with for nearly two decades. Dark cherry, blackberry and pomegranate are layered with blood orange, rose, sweet paprika and a gentle earthy savouriness. The palate is generous and powerful yet beautifully poised, with velvety, fine-grained tannins bringing shape and persistence. Deep, spicy and quietly complex, it’s a more brooding expression of Blewitt Springs Grenache with the structure to evolve beautifully.
