Place: Brouilly - Beaujolais, France
Jean-Claude Lapalu is one of France's most renowned vignerons and a darling of the Paris natural wine scene. He farms old vines (50-100-years-old) meticulously and organically, the resulting wines are unadulterated, energetic and idiosyncratic.
His old-vine Brouilly comes from a 50-year-old plot and is fermented and raised in stainless steel. Unfined, unfiltered and bottled with a tiny dose of sulphur at bottling, it is slightly hazy and tremendously vibrant. Drink after a half-hour in the fridge.
