Words from the importer, Bibendum Wine Co
Leroux’s 2020 Chambolle was drawn from a range of sites, not least a 1955 parcel of Les Véroilles—in the villages portion of this high, rocky vineyard. Then there’s a healthy addition of Les Athets at the base of the hill on soils of clay, silt and limestone, and some declassified 1er Crus Les Chatelots. So, outstanding terroirs! Using roughly 30% whole bunches and 20% new oak, Leroux has sculpted an outstanding rendition of the village.
Words from Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
Very pretty unexaggerated purple. This has not yet been racked so the bouquet is less prominent. Rose buds and violets, then a pretty and suave red fruit, still with the roses, a very stylish Chambolle not showing any drought at all. Remarkably long finish. A strong four stars.
