2021 Karim Vionnet 'Du Beur dans les Pinards' Beaujolais-Villages

Born to Algerian parents, Karim was adopted as a child by the Vionnets in Morgon. He has worked with the region’s greats—Lapierre, Breton, Foillard—as a vineyard- and cellar-hand, as well as assistant winemaker. He now farms small farms in Chiroubles, Chenas and Fleurie.

The fruit for this comes from a 60-year-old single vineyard in La Chapelle-de-Guinchay in northeastern Beaujolais once owned by Beaujolais godfather Jules Chauvet. It’s impossibly energetic—a wine we always feel like drinking.

2021 Jean-Claude Lapalu Beaujolais-Villages VV

Jean-Claude Lapalu is one of France's most renowned vignerons and a darling of the Paris natural wine scene. He farms old vines (50-100-years-old) meticulously and organically, the resulting wines are unadulterated, energetic and idiosyncratic. 

His old-vine Beaujolais-Villages is blue-fruited and savoury on the nose. In the mouth it’s bright yet dense, both in fruit concentration and tannin.
