NV Egly-Ouriet 'Les Crayeres' Blanc de Noirs VV
Base 2015, Disgorged July 2022
Place: Champagne, France
Variety: Pinot Noir
Farming: Organic
Francis Egly, alongside pioneers like Jacques Selosse and Pierre Larmandier, was an early advocate of site-specific Champagne and thoughtful viticulture. His predominantly Grand Cru, Pinot Noir-based wines are known for richness and texture. Egly’s iconic wine, first released in 1989 after encouragement from critic Michel Bettane, comes from the Les Crayères vineyard, where vines planted in 1946 produce exceptional fruit.
The 2013 vintage, aged in cask for nearly a year and blended with 40% reserve wine from 2012, embodies the site’s mineral energy and powerful Pinot character. A wine for aging, it will improve over 2-5 years, solidifying its place among Champagne’s finest Blanc de Noirs.
