2021 Karim Vionnet 'KV' Beaujolais Villages
Place: Beaujolais, France
Variety: Gamay
Farming: Organic
Born to to Algerian parents, Karim was adopted as a child by a family in Morgon. His first career was a baker but eventually fell into wine, as one does in this region, and got the natural wine bug by working as a vineyard-hand and winemaker for some of the OG natty wine legends like Guy Breton and Marcel Lapierre. Technically a negociant, Karim is responsible for the organic farming and vinification of 5 hectares of plots around Beaujolais, with vines ranging from 40-60 years old.
From two parcels around Morgon, in the villages of Lancié and Beaujeu, this is Beaujolais Villages at its juicy, feel-good best. Bursting with red and dark fruits, it’s bright, vibrant and seriously easy to love — the kind of wine that disappears quickly once the bottle’s open.
