Want to drink a glass of red wine, but also want to be hydrated and feel refreshed? This ones for you. Three red wines that stand to attention when the temperature drops in the glass. If you've ever sat outside on the street-front in Paris in spring, you know what this is all about.
2021 Villa Job 'Serious' Refosco Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy
Located in Friuli Pozzuolo, Villa job is the estate of vinous power couple Alessandro Job and Lavinia Monrreale. The estate is 6.5 Ha, with soils comprising clay, sandstone and marl. The vines on average are 20 years old and farmed organically. We have been blown away by the freshness and vitality of these wines, kicking ourselves for not discovering them sooner!
This wine leaps from the glass. Bright red summer fruit aromatics continue in the mouth where it is all slurpable mineral crunch. Serve with a light chill.
2024 Gullyview 'Brothers' Light Red Watervale – Clare Valley, SA
Gullyview Estate is a new project from Jono Koerner, formerly working with his brother Damon at Koerner Wines and his partner Megan Jenkins. They are now focusing on their own project showcasing all that the Clare has to offer.
Brothers Light Red is comprised of 75% Grenache and 25% Vermentino, both picked early for ultimate freshness then fermented in stainless steel before a brief slumber in oak. All red-fruited, wildly enthralling and with an oh-so-drinkable moreishness. Enjoy with a chill.
2024 Defialy 'Pretty Much Red' Heathcote & King Valley, VIC
DEFIALY Wines have become one of the most sought-after labels with their wines selling out shortly after release. His wines have gone from strength to strength and even his simpler releases, like this one, feel complete and thoughtful.
An intriguing blend of Heathcote Grenache, King Valley Tempranillo and Heathcote Muscat. Bright, light and floral. Delicate structure and fine tannins. Purpose built chilled red for summer fun.
