Born to Algerian parents, Karim was adopted as a child by the Vionnets in Morgon. He has worked with the region’s greats—Lapierre, Breton, Foillard—as a vineyard- and cellar-hand, as well as assistant winemaker. He now farms small farms in Chiroubles, Chenas and Fleurie.
The fruit for this comes from a 60-year-old single vineyard in La Chapelle-de-Guinchay in northeastern Beaujolais once owned by Beaujolais godfather Jules Chauvet. It’s impossibly energetic—a wine we always feel like drinking.
