2020 Express Winemakers 'L'Orange', Great Southern (Wa)
This is a blend of Riesling and Semillon from the organically farmed L’enclos Du Tertre vineyard in the Great Southern’s Frankland River sub-region. It spent 6 days on skins before being put to sleep in a mixture of mature oak and ceramic eggs. This is powerfully aromatic, expressing white florals and citrus, with a mouthfeel that has a fine phenolic grip that reminds you it was fermented on it's skins. Like all of Ryan O'meara's wines there is very minimal sulphur at bottling.
2019 Bink Wines '1000 Fires' Cabernet Franc, McLaren Vale (Sa)
This wine has such a pretty presence in the mouth. Feather light in weight, brilliantly medium in colour, it has all the herbal edges we expect of the variety but with an easy going, generous structure that finishes supple and satisfying.
2019 Yetti & the Kokonut 'Mt Savagnin' Savagnin, McLaren Vale (Sa)
We found some more of this, and thank god we did because if your anything like us your craving Mineral driven, fresh Savagnin to go with the weekend's oysters. And 'go' it does, pure refreshing joy.
2020 Das Juice Sauvignon Pet Nat, Mornington Peninsula (Vic)
Das Juice. When James Audas and Tom Sheer are not importing some of Europe's most exciting wines, they are bringing affordable and fun wines into the world through their Das Juice Label. This is Pet Nat Sauvignon Blanc from the Peninsula that is vibrant, vivacious and energetic it it's effervescence. Ease into this.
2020 Express Winemakers 'Drinking Wine', Great Southern (Wa)
No the name is not trying to trick you, this is wine...for drinking...i know i know, sometimes we forget that that's what wine is for, with the whole endless tasting and note taking thing do to overcomplicate things. An unlikely orgy of organically farmed Grenache, Mourvedre, Malbec and Pinot Noir come together to produce the juiciest and freshest version of this wine to date. But unlikely orgys always do that dont they...chill it in the fridge pre-imbibe and choose your drinking companions carefully, this wine dissapears quickly.
2020 Stoney Rise No Clothes Pinot Gris, Tamar Valley (Tas)
Wow, shit, fuck, wooooooh! The reactions around the room when we tasted this sums up the wine perfectly. If your not seduced by the insanely intense colour, you will be by the star burst milky way walk of flavour that is having this wine in your mouth. Musk and Campari aromatics abound, and blood orange is both the colour and flavour inherent in this Spring drinking masterpiece by Joe Holyman.
