Pinot Noir is our favourite variety... no secret there, and here are three of our favourites that are currently receiving high rotation in our glasses.
2020 BK Wine 'Gower' - Adelaide Hills (Sa)
Light coloured but deep flavoured. In fact, this could easily be mistaken for Burgundy. Think deep-forest pine-mushroom soup on the palate, with a dash of sherry. Floral in places, whole-bunch fermentation gives this wine drive and edges. Maple leaves, dark cocoa and a touch of salinity.
2019 Hurley Estate - Mornington Peninsula (Vic)
A blend of three vineyards, this is insanely pretty Pinot Noir from Mornington icon Hurley Vineyard. Red fruits and spice co-exist in a beautifully balanced frame. Immense value and a beautiful insight into the more concentrated single vineyard wines from this legendary producer.
2019 Denton - Yarra Valley (Vic)
Granitic sand over granite boulders and long, slow growing season provide a unique terroir and climate to produce elegant, precise Pinot. Bright, fresh red and black fruits and driving minerality, framed by fine tannin with a sweeping acidity. Superb delivery from Luke and the Denton team!
