2019 Maxime Magnon 'Metisse' Rose 750ml
Region: Corbieres - Languedoc, FRA
Variety: Grenache Noir, Carignan, Grenache Blanc, Cinsault
In 2002, Burgundy native Maxime Magnon settled in the Corbières region and more precisely in Villeneuve-les-Corbieres. Before that he worked with Jean Foillard, Philippe Valette and Thierry Allemand, three big names! All grapes are manually harvested in to small crates and taken to a cold room before being whole bunch fermented at ambient temperature in open top casks using only indigenous yeasts. Following the fermentation the wines are elevaged in either cement tanks or old barrels (from Burgundy) before being bottled without fining or filtration.
This is as always a sheer delight, this and L'Anglore's Tavel are my 'go to' roses when I have them; it is the sort of wine that I like to savour and sip and not simply throw back hastily - though it is terribly easy to do so! It has a caressing texture and welcome scent of flowers, warm stones and an entrancing mix of orchard and citrus fruits - it shape-shifts with each sip and smell, dancing around with your senses. This is a must for your Summer. - Notes from the importer
