2020 Good Intentions 'Relatively Red' Shiraz
Region: Mount Gambier, SA
Relatively Red is the Yang side of Shiraz, juicy, savoury, long and complex texture with refreshing acidity.
From the flinty vineyard of Coola, this 2 rows of Shiraz are the only rows in Mount Gambier planted on iconic limestone and flint soils facing the ocean. On that vineyard the Shiraz ripens slowly so Andrew decided it was the ideal opportunity to make a crunchy red. This shiraz is left on skin for a small carbo maceration during 24 hours, then transferred to old barrel for a 10 month ageing. The berries were so tiny and the number of bunches was very low, making this wine very concentrated this year. A burst of red fruits (sour cherries, cranberries) with spices and leafy notes, savoury with soft tannins. Delicious!
