This is a brand new cuvée for Dominique Belluard. In the past he has had a number of releases of Pur Jus, however they have always been made from his favourite grape, namely Gringet. This year he has departed from this tradition and used the local Altesse grape variety instead.
This also leads to a confusing juxtaposition of the appellation name, Roussette de Savoie and the grape variety which he calls Altesse. The answer is that they are exactly the same grape, just called by different names in different parts of the Savoie. The other change is that Dominique has macerated the grapes for some 70 days, although tasting it doesn’t give the impression of long maceration.
This is a delightfully floral, beautifully coloured, light orange wine that can be drunk as an aperitif, which is unusual for a skin contact wine. - Notes from the importer, Living Wines
