A rotating selection of the wines we're reaching for as the mercury drops. Not too light nor too heavy so that they're great to drink on their own or alongside hearty meals.
2021 Quin 'Everyday Explorer' Mataro Riverland, SA
An uncomplicated approach in the vineyard and cellar allows Andrew and Skye Quin to create wines of dimension and personality from the Barossa and beyond. Their Mataro is rich, spicy and gamey, defined by a plush mouthfeel kept ever-so-slightly firm by dusty tannins.
2018 By Ngeringa Syrah Adelaide Hills, SA
Originally part of Jurlique’s herb farm, Ngeringa is now a flourishing, verdant oasis of vineyards, orchards and groves all biodynamically farmed and tended to with the utmost care and respect for the environment. The same care and respect is exercised in the cellar and deft winemaking results in harmonious, vibrant expressions of variety, time and place. From this oasis comes a satisfying and dimensional Syrah lined with rosemary, thyme and allspice. It’s all fresh and bouncy around a core of unmistakable savouriness.
2021 Spinifex Syrah Barossa Valley, SA
Medium-bodied, seductive, spicy, bright Syrah from a Barossa stalwart. From higher, cooler sites, this is fresh and balanced with a very pleasing velvet texture and chewy tannin. Would be quite content alongside some lamb.
