After studying oenology, winemaker Michael Downer did vintages in the Adelaide Hills, Great Western and Barolo, eventually settling in the Adelaide Hills where he is now at the helm of Murdoch Hill.
His desire is to craft wines where the fruit gets to do the talking by minimising intervention wherever possible. It shows as his wines are authentic pictures of the Hills from which they grow. Ripe nectarine and peach, vibrant acidity and a creamy texture, framed by a mineral edge. An elegant, polished example of Hills Chardonnay that is oh so satisfying this time of year.
