Place: Adelaide Hills, SA
Gentle Folk is Gareth & Rainbow Belton who are located in Basket Range in the Adelaide Hills. In 2013, after helping and hanging out with James Erskine (Jauma), Alex Schulkin (The Other Right) and other early pioneers of the Basket Range wine movement, they made their first wine—just three barrels from the Broderick's beautiful Basket Range vineyard.
They now organically farm five sites totalling 8ha planted to pinot noir, chardonnay, riesling and sauvignon blanc. Their wines share freshness and elegance and are some of the most exciting and interesting in the Hills right now.
Grown on shallow rocky soils high up in Forest Range, this release—a welcomed return to the fold—is fine-boned and mineral. Racier than Piccadilly if you prefer chardonnay with edges.
