Sam Connew fell in love with grapes working in a wine bar in Christchurch while studying arts and law. After the usual globetrotting, she held various roles in Australia, most recently as head winemaker at the iconic Wirra Wirra in McLaren Vale.
She now works her patch of Eden in the Apple Isle where she makes complex wines of character and place. This is a vibrant and high-toned blend of Pinots Noir and Meunier—a story of wild, crunchy berries and long, lacy tannins.
