Place: McLaren Vale, SA
Variety: Tempranillo
Farming: Sustainable
Spanish varieties thrive in our warmer climes and this tempranillo entirely exemplifies that. Not to mention that Steve Pannell has a deft touch across the board, but seems to really know how to work with these grapes.
Invitingly medium-bodied, redolent of milk chocolate and the classic tempranillo aroma/flavour of cola nut. Firm yet approachable tannins tuck the entire affair into place, while a crunchy blackberry acidity keeps it all fresh. A glass while making dinner, a glass during, and maybe (certainly) a glass after.
