Place: Mornington Peninsula, VIC
Variety: Lagrein
Farming: Sustainable
Range Life came to be from the desire to produce approachable yet idiosyncratic wines from King Valley vineyards. This, however, comes from and is made on the Mornington Peninsula by the great winemaker Barney Flanders of Garagiste fame.
Lagrein is a sibling of syrah and grandchild of pinot noir, but more closely resembles cabernet sauvignon in structure and depth. Purple juice that speaks of purple fruits, laced with black pepper spice and firm tannins, drink it with something hearty enough to tangle with.
