Olek Bondonio is a Piedmontese winemaker eschewing norms and venturing into interesting terrain. He makes vibrant and age-worthy Barbarescos, but also makes wines like these for immediate and immensely enjoyable drinking.
Words from Olek's Australian importer, Giorgio de Maria:
"This is made from the native Piedmontese variety Pelaverga. Many years ago Olek’s relatives planted four rows of these vines in the Roncagliette vineyard, one of the finest crus of Barbaresco. The balance comes from from younger vines in Altavilla. It's very light in colour and still showing more red fruit rather than pepper, which is yet to come. ~Two weeks maceration on skins (until the end of fermentation) in stainless steel."
