Place: Mount Barker - Adelaide Hills, SA
Variety: Syrah, Pinot Noir, Viognier, Pink Semillon
Originally part of Jurlique’s herb farm, Ngeringa is now a flourishing, verdant oasis of vineyards, orchards and groves all biodynamically farmed and tended to with the utmost care and respect for the environment. The same care and respect is exercised in the cellar and deft winemaking results in harmonious, vibrant expressions of variety, time and place in every cuvee.
A Pet Nat for grown ups. Yes it's pink and frivolous with plenty of juicy fruit and fizz. But beyond that is a detailed wine that would sit as well with a fancy restaurant meal (finished in the home kitchen, of course) as a back yard bbq. Whole bunch pressed Syrah and Pinot Noir as rosé, plus Viognier and Pink Semillon. Reds ferment in old barrels and concrete eggs for texture while whites receive around a week on their skins to add some delicate phenol-fizz tension. As with the cider, a liqueur de tirage of the unfermented juice is added before bottling, making this, like all the wines from Ngeringa, nothing but grapes in their most enjoyable form.
