Tom Lubbe is a New Zealander who grew up and made wine in South Africa for years before moving to the Roussillon in the south of France to work with stalwart producer Gérard Gauby of Domaine Gauby.
Tom met his wife, Nathalie, while working with Gérard (she is his sister) so, for love of the heart and the land, Tom pulled his roots from South African soils and grafted himself onto French rootstock.
Tom has inspired a generation of passionate producers who eschew the picturesque rows of vineyards and chateau airs, opting instead for a vineyard to exist as an element of a greater ecosystem which itself exists as a part of a greater whole.
That means organic and biodynamic farming, the introduction and cultivation of non-vine flora, and no chemical aids whatsoever.
The result is pure, energetic and unbridled.
Grenache Noir 60%, Syrah 10%, Grenache Gris 20%, Macabeu 10%. Whole bunch carbonic fermentation. Maceration 1 week in tank, elevage in tank and large wood. Vine age 40-50 years.
