Place: Beaujolais, France
Variety: Syrah, Gamay
Jean-Claude Lapalu is one of France's most renowned vignerons and a darling of the Paris natural wine scene. He farms old vines (50-100-years-old) meticulously and organically, the resulting wines are unadulterated, energetic and idiosyncratic.
Tentation is an absolutely vivacious Vin de France, smelling and tasting unmistakably of moreish sour cherries underscored by savoury dimension. A 60/40 blend of syrah and gamay from Beaujolais-Villages, it's what Jean-Claude calls "a wine for standing up"—light-bodied, vibrant and eminently drinkable.
