Place: Frankland River, WA
Whilst Hunter Smith and his team have their feet firmly in Frankland River soil, their mind is often in Germany and Austria as they are constantly inspired by the great rieslings of these two countries. Employing organic farming practices, vineyard health is of utmost importance and it shows in the wines of this thoughtful estate.
Spicy, smoky reduction on the nose - rather inviting. Grapefruit abounds. Taut, long, crisp. Lively acidity. Fresh, but also generous from a hint of new oak. Great with white fish, but can tussle with the other colours in the rainbow if you so fancy.
