Every now and then we come across a wine that really captures our attention. This is one of those wines. Not because it’s from a great region or vintage or made by a great producer, but because the wine edifies the very idea of what wine can, and perhaps should, be.
Here it’s a very humble blend from Gascony in France’s southwest. For a bottle that clocks in at under $30, it has the rustic joy of a regional wine, yet the detailing of wines that cost a great deal more. Begin very cold and allow to blossom with temperature and time.
