Region: Romsey - Macedon Ranges, VIC
Variety: Pinot Noir
Doug’s Vineyard is situated on the outskirts of the township of Romsey, in the Macedon Ranges. Owned by the Newnham family it was planted 20 years ago to predominantly MV6 and smaller amounts of 114 and 115 clone pinot noir. Farmed sustainably.
Dark garnet. As usual for Doug’s Vineyard this vintage is intensely aromatic, full of wilted rose petal, sour red cherry, porcini and clean turned earth, with a seasoning of exotic spice. The small crop lends intense concentration, yet compared to the the last two vintages it is much more weightless and acid driven, finishing with a trail of fine powdery tannin and exceptional balance. Unfined and unfiltered. The only addition to the wine is a small dose of sulphur. - Notes from Joshua Cooper
