Alex Foillard, son of the famed Jean Foillard's Brouilly comes from the aptly named 'La Folie' (Madness), a steep vineyard just above Reverdon. The general rule is that Brouilly is the Côte de Brouilly’s slightly softer, more sensuous sibling and Foillard’s is a glorious example.

The 2020 wines from Alex were a revelation - we tasted them outside on their porch this May. Alex basically handles the vinification for his and his father Jean's wines, though Jean and his brother Louis are always around, as is his mother, Agnes; this is a definitely a family affair. I feel that, five years on from his first vintage his wines are qualitatively on par with Jean's and can be purchased with the same confidence.
