Place: Burgenland, Austria
Variety: Zweigelt, Blaufrankisch, Merlot
The Burgenland wine region in Austria is about forty minutes drive southwest of Vienna and is home to some of the most exciting producers in the country. One of these producers is Gerhard Pittanuer who has been making exceptional wines for over 20 years.
Pitti (also his nickname) is a blend indigenous varieties Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch and Merlot that come together as a bright, fresh and savoury red designed for everyday drinking but would be very much at home at a Saturday night dinner party.
