Sommelier-turned-winemaker Aaron Crothers has a thing for Sangiovese. Particularly the rustic, unadorned styles that speak earnestly of their origins. To that end, he picked very late so that the fruit was well and truly ripe, then threw it into old oak and literally left it to figure the rest out itself.
The result is unadulterated and, unsurprisingly, rustic Sangiovese that is just so pleasing and reliable on all fronts—just like that friend who will always drive you to the airport.
