Place: Piedmont, Italy
Variety: Nebbiolo
Farming: Sustainable
Brothers Alberto and Luca Crissante run their family winery in Santa Maria, continuing a legacy that began in 1958. They cultivate 6 hectares of vines in La Morra, including the Capalot cru. Their Barolos are fermented in stainless steel and aged for 24 months in large botte. The Barolo del Comune di La Morra blends younger fruit from Capalot, Galina, and nearby slopes.
Lifted, herbal sort of nose. Super-fine tannins – atomically small, very feathery, but very dominant too. Plenty of black fruit that finishes with classic bitterness.
