Region: Burgundy, FRA
Variety: Pinot Noir
This great value rouge is drawn from two vineyards in roughly equal measure: Paris l’Hôpital (on dark sandy granitic soil); and Puligny-Montrachet (on loamy limestone). This is a wine that captures the quintessential Chanterêves character of fruit purity, savoury nuance and lightness of touch. On average, the vines here are aged over 50 years. Tomoko notes the assemblage of wines from these the granite and limestone terroirs was “magical” in 2019.
Our 2019 Bourgogne Rouge is probably the most energetic and complex of the Bourgogne Rouges we’ve made. The Puligny is fruit forward with red berries and dense while the Paris l’Hôpital brings the dark fruit aromas, complexity and length.
