Region: Hautes-Cotes de Beaune - Burgundy, FRA
Variety: Pinot Noir
Farming: Organic
Paris l’Hôpital is set high in the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune above Dezize-lès-Maranges in the southern Côte. This is a fascinating terroir where the 45- to 55-year-old vines are rooted in a steep outcrop of weathered granite, one of the few sites in the Côte where granite is exposed. The fruit for this cuvée used to be blended into the Bourgogne Rouge, but after identifying the unique quality of the terroir, Tomoko decided to bottle a single site cuvée. We’re glad she did! This site offers up wines of great vivacity and refreshing energy.
Floral with bouquets of dark red fruits. Very fine tannins with racy acidity. Complex and structured. Dense yet lifted. Certainly the best Hautes-Côtes de Beaune we have made in 10 years. Performs well above its humble appellation.
