Region: Languedoc, France
Variety: Grenache Blanc, Terret Gris, Grenache Gris
After finishing winemaking studies, Benjamin Taillandier initially spent time working for a conventional winery. In 2004, he met the adventurous Languedoc vigneron, Jean-Baptiste Senat, who would change Benjamin’s views on viticulture and winemaking. In 2007 he started his own domaine, purchasing six hectares of vines in and around Caunes-Minervois in Languedoc. He only works with local Languedoc varieties: Terret Gris, Grenache Gris, Grenache Blanc, Grenache Noir, Carignan, Cinsault and Syrah. He began working the land organically at the very beginning and now incorporates biodynamic practices too. His wines are a breath of fresh air in the oft dense wines of the region, light but not insubstantial, lower in alcohol with great purity of fruit and freshness.
'Grapefruit and green pears, composed and textural yet with acidity, ensuring a beautifully balanced wine. Fish and chips by the beach, sea spray in the air and laughter with friends. A great wine to suit an array of palates.' - note from the importer, Liz
