G.D. Vajra (pronounced Vaira) is now led by Giuseppe, the second generation of Vajra, a thoughtful winemaker working with respect to what was and a desire to explore what might be.
Their Barolos have become highly sought-after for their accessibility, purity and longevity.
Over the years they’ve acquired coveted holdings in their home commune of Barolo as well as Novello, Sinio and Serralunga — the latter home to the stupendous wines they produce under their Luigi Baudana label.
Words from Giuseppe's Australian importer, Cellarhand:
"Baudana is located on the western slope of Serralunga and belongs to a fine cluster of vineyards among Lazzarito, Parafada, Rionda, Falletto and Francia. The soil is a composition of Marne di Sant’Agata mixed with Formazioni di Lequio. It’s white on the surface and distinctively blue underneath. The site enjoys amazing soil conditions, thanks to higher water retention."
