Region: Malmsbury - Macedon, VIC
Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon
A one-off -mature, varietal wine from a very good site for Cabernet Sauvignon.
Wildly purple in the glass. Blackcurrant and sap (like a bleeding grapevine) are lifted out of the glass along with a lovely rosehip. It’s very perfumed. With some time in bottle the intense blackcurrant has softened, adding liquorice and cassis. It’s not all dark and thick - fresh mint, basil, sweet hickory and rocky, gravy, mineral flavours give the palate tension and moreish layers. There is an old woody frame, grape tannins move the wine along the pallet. It really does deserve classic Claret food - roast beef, gratin, saint agur. - Notes from Pat
