Place: Cahors, France
Variety: Malbec
Farming: Sustainable
Fifth generation winemaker Johan Vidal makes Le Tradition from mature, sustainably farmed vines that are set on chalky alluvial (river) soils. It spends most of its life in concrete with a small portion raised in old 500L oak in an attempt to capture purity and terroir expression without heavy oak encumbrance.
Dark-fruited, mineral and absolutely delicious, this is a testament to what malbec is capable of when not hamstrung by oak and is winter drinking bottled.
