Taken from the steep granitic slopes of Valtellina, the Perego family farm Nebbiolo (locally known as Chiavennasca. As they have done consistently since 1860.
The grapes grow on pure rock at elevations up to 700m. The resulting wines are light, elegant and intensely mineral. Remarkably different from the brooding wines of Piedmont.
The Rosso di Valtellina is an excellent introduction to the family wines, taken from lower altitude areas of the estate. Delicate red florals lead into juicy fruit, fine tannins, a hint of cocoa, and a saline note make this a special one.
